LAS VEGAS (AP) — Technicians have repaired an escalator at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas that was emitting smoke Sunday morning.
McCarran airport spokesman Glenn Gardner says fire department crews were called to the escalator in the airport’s Terminal 3 after reports of a smoke smell and a light haze.
He says a brake on the escalator appeared to be causing the smoke.
Gardner says the escalator was shut down until it was fixed around 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
Nearby stairs and elevators were available for people to use while the escalator was out of service.
Gardner says the light smoke did not affect nearby areas or airport operations.
