ATLANTA (AP) — Leaders of the Democratic Party are preparing to approve a plan that sets the 2016 presidential calendar.

That calendar would begin with the Iowa caucuses on Feb. 1, 2016, followed by voting later that month in New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina.

The Democratic National Committee is expected to approve a 2016 framework that’s in line with plans pushed by Republicans.

Democrats are meeting Saturday afternoon in Atlanta.

The Democrats’ plan would recommend that the New Hampshire primary be held on Feb. 9, followed by theNevada caucuses no earlier than Feb. 20 and the South Carolina primary on Feb. 27. Other states could hold their contests from March 1 through the second Tuesday in June.

Party leaders were also voting on rules for its 2016 convention.
