(Las Vegas, NV) — The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch, in effect until 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, for the following areas:

IN NEVADA…Lake Mead National Recreation Area…Las Vegas Valley…Lincoln County…Northeast Clark County… Sheep Range…Southern Clark County…Spring Mountains-Red Rock Canyon and Western Clark and Southern Nye County.

IN NORTHWEST ARIZONA…Lake Havasu and Fort Mohave and Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

IN CALIFORNIA…Cadiz Basin… Eastern Mojave Desert and San Bernardino County-Upper Colorado River Valley.

A weather disturbance approaching from the south will interact with well above normal moisture today and tonight. This combination will set the stage for the development of thunderstorms with heavy rain.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding.  Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation and persons in and near the watch area should be alert to the potential for heavy rainfall.
