GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities say a suicidal man holed up in his vehicle has led to the closure of a busy freeway in Glendale.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office says the man reportedly talked about killing himself at his Sun City home but left around 2 p.m. before deputies arrived.
Sheriff’s spokesman Christopher Hegstrom says deputies located him traveling south on Loop 303 and were able to stop the car.
However, the suspect, who is believed to be armed, is not getting out of the car.
Police officers from Glendale and Peoria are also at the scene.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety has closed Loop 303 between Camelback and Bethany Home roads to traffic in both directions.
