Las Vegas, NV – On Friday, the Orleans Arena announced it will be home turf to the newly-formed Major Arena Soccer League’s Las Vegas Legends indoor soccer team.
As the MASL continues to expand – now 23 teams including three in Mexico – commissioner Kevin Milliken welcomed Southern Nevada to its league saying the popularity of Las Vegas, as a destination city, made a nice fit for teams traveling cross-country. “I got a request from probably 18 of the teams this year. They either want to go to Las Vegas or San Diego. They either want the beach or the fun.”
The MASL is split into two conferences, East and West, with two divisions in each.
Indoor soccer is generally faster paced, and higher scoring, than outdoor soccer. Play is set on turf with walls that can be used in the player’s favor; either for passing around a defender or forcing the offense toward the walls to limit options found in midfield. Each game consists of four 15-minute quarters. There is a three-minute interval between quarters and a 15-minute halftime intermission. Each team will play twenty season games; ten home, ten away.
The Orleans Arena will showcase its newest sports tenant with a preseason game on Sunday, October 12th. Regular season games will be played on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays. All Sunday games, including the season opener against Northern California’s Turlock Express October 26th, will begin at 3pm with the Tuesday and Friday night matches starting at 7pm.
Legends Assistant GM Justin Windsor says the team is waiting to announce its new head coach.
Season tickets can be reserved now for the Legends’ ten home games. Kids’ season tickets are priced at $70 while adult season tickets cost $120. Individual game tickets are $9 for children and $20 for adults and can be purchased at http://www.OrleansArena.com.
