(Las Vegas, NV) — Scott Carmitchel was in Las Vegas Justice Court today. He’s the man accused of robbing the Bellagio Casino on Friday night. He’s in jail, and had initially refused to appear in court. The judge then ordered him to appear by “any force necessary.”
Carmitchel arrived with a blanket around his body and his head was covered with a spit mask.
Bonaventure later recalled the case and Carmitchel was wheeled into court with his head covered in a spit mask and a beige blanket draped around his body.
A preliminary hearing is set for August 13th.
Las Vegas Metro Police Department Robbery detectives made the arrest Saturday. 34-year old Carmitchel is accused of stealing more than $43,000 from the Bellagio Hotel Casino. He refused to cooperate in any way with the investigation and was combative with officers throughout the booking process. You can see that from his mugshot.
He has been charged with the following:
Burglary while in Possession of a Gun
2 counts of Battery on a Police Officer (two correction officers during the booking process)
Carmitchel has a criminal history in Kansas, and was convicted of making a threat last July. He’s expected to appear in Federal Court on Wednesday as well. Police believe he may have been involved in some Las Vegas bank robberies.
