(Las Vegas, NV) — Officials from the U.S. Department of Agriculture are visiting Las Vegas today to encourage participation in the Summer Food Service Program.
It picks up where the school lunch program leaves off, providing breakfast and lunch at no cost to children 18 years of age and younger.
In our area, the U.S.D.A. provides funding to Three Square Food Bank, which distributes meals at recreation centers, community centers, and libraries throughout Southern Nevada.
Neighborhoods with a school that has at least 50 percent participation in the free or reduced lunch program are served by the program. Any child in one of these neighborhoods, regardless of their family’s financial situation, is eligible to receive a meal.

The 2014 SFSP ends August 22, just before children return to school.
