ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — The New Mexico State Police says some of its officers fired shots at a woman during a criminal investigation in northeast Albuquerque.

Details are sketchy but the incident occurred Tuesday morning in northeast Albuquerque.

According to Sgt. Damyan Brown, the woman drove away in a vehicle which crashed. He says the woman then fled on foot before allegedly stealing another vehicle.

KOAT-TV reports the woman now is in custody after going to a hospital in Grants.

She was at the hospital reportedly for treatment of a gunshot wound.

Her name wasn’t immediately released.

Brown says an investigation is underway into what prompted detectives to shoot at her.

He says several other people have been detained for questioning in the case.
