( North Las Vegas, NV )  Police in North Las Vegas believe 35-year-old Shelly Mitchell abducted her 3-year-old daughter, Katies Battle, from her father’s apartment over the 4th of July weekend.

They’re asking for your help in locating them.

Investigators say the girl has been in foster care since being taken from the family by Child Protective Services a year and a half ago. They say the youngster’s foster mom dropped her off at her biological father’s place near Las Vegas Blvd North and Lake Mead for a scheduled visit over the long holiday weekend.

According to police, Mitchell may have been denied access to a family gathering during the weekend.

The biological father reported his daughter missing on July 5th.

The 3-year-old is described as an African-American girl, about 2’0”, 36 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Battle was last seen wearing  a green and pink shirt with a flower in the middle and green leggings.

The biological mother is described as an African-American woman, about 5’5″, 155 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Police say she’s been known to hang out in Henderson in the area of Sunset and Green Valley Parkway.
