Gaming Control Board Just Says “No”

Board: Gaming License, Medical Marijuana Don't Mix

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada gambling regulators are making their first foray into the world of medical marijuana in a case involving a slot route operator with ties to one of the new medical pot dispensaries in Las Vegas.

The Gaming Control Board told owners of a Las Vegas restaurant Thursday they need to find a new operator with no connections to the medical marijuana business.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the panel recommended approving a restricted, two-year license for the Crab Corner’s five slot machines, but only if Nevada Gaming Partners isn’t involved.

The firm is owned by Bruce Familian, whose wife, Sarah, has an 8 percent stake in GB Sciences Nevada, LLC — one of 18 dispensaries county commissioners awarded last month.

The recommendation goes to the state Gaming Commission July 24.
