(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–Jelene Parker’s nightmare began more than a week ago when her 14 year old son Donnell ran away from home. “He asked me if he could go to the park, and I said ‘yes’ and I never saw him again.”
That was June 18th.
Parker says she has put up posters in the area near Clark High, Cashman Middle School and Cashman Park. Her father has been looking for the teen each day. Parker has been told her son has been seen from time to time around Cashman Park, but she has been unable to locate him.
“He’s only 14. I dont know if he’s eating. I dont know where he’s sleeping. He could be sleeping in abandoned houses, I don’t know. I have to go home to Texas on the 4th, and I don’t want to leave my baby in Vegas.”, said Parker. The family moved here from Ft. Worth in January.
Parker says police have told her that if they locate her son, they will bring him home. But they explain there cannot be an Amber Alert in such cases because there was no evidence of abduction.
Parker says her son is a good kid, and that he has never run away before. She did not offer a reason for why he would leave, but that he was not homesick for Texas and would not try to go there.
She says her son was last seen wearing a red baseball cap and red cargo shorts. Parker asks that anyone who has seen her son contact Metro Police or North Las Vegas Police.
