Murder Charges In Homeless Man’s Death
(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–More than 2 weeks after a homeless man’s death, another man is facing murder charges.
James Hahn is accused of choking Paul Pillat, who later died of asphyxiation. Witnesses say Hahn and another man assaulted on June 8th after Pillat allegedly groped a passed-out woman, at abus stop on Flamingo near Koval.
Detectives later interviewed Hahn. He claimed that he was friends with the victim and denied hurting him, or was involved in any way with assaulting him.
He later admitted he grabbed Pillat around the neck and choked him, but did not mean to hurt him.
Pillat complained later of breathing difficulty. He died June 11th. An autopsy listed asphyxiation as cause of death.
Detectives say another man also assaulted Pillat, kicking him in the ribs. for now, Hahn is the only person charged.
