(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–Following a suspicious fire at a vacant Las Vegas apartment complex Thursday, investigators arrested a woman on arson charges. She is suspected in a series of other fires in the area recently.

Police arrested 29 year old June Wilkinson, who is being held in the Clark County Detention Center.

Fire officials say a fire was spotted in the 1800 block of East Charleston in an alley. The fire spread to vacant buildings on Lewis Avenue.

Investigators believe she set fire to a couch in the alley, and the blaze spread to a tree, which touched off a fire in two apartment buildings.

Police say as Wilkinson fled the scene, she encountered a Metro Police car and was detained. Investigators say there have been several suspicious fires in the area recently and a woman has been seen in the vicinity of them. An investigation continues to determine if Wilkinson is connected to those blazes.
