Vigil For Young Fire Victims

Hundreds Gather To Remember 4-Year-Old Boy, 2-Year-Old Girl

( Las Vegas, NV ) – Hundreds gathered outside a northwest valley home Thursday night to remember a 4-year-old boy and his 2-year-old sister who died in a fire there earlier that morning.

Candles and flowers lined the sidewalk where Cruz Flores and his sister Ella would play in the neighborhood near Ann Rd and Durango.

Their older brother, 14-year-old Ryan, was spending the night at a friend’s house when the fire broke out in a bedroom of the family home.

Their parents, Anthony Flores and Stephanie Parriera, are still hospitalized with burns suffered as they tried to reach their kids.

Young neighbor Zachary Nicholls said at the vigil “I’m sorry, guys. We miss you. You guys were a lot of fun and we love you.”

Their great uncle, Jose Flores said, “It’s hard to understand these things, y’know, like why it happens. These were good little kids and a good family, but you’ve got to think that there’s a reason for everything.”

A bake sale there  raised some $6,000 to help the family, while an online donation website reportedly collected upwards of $15,000 in a day’s time.

There’s been no official word on the cause of the fire, but investigators said shortly after the blaze that they believed it was accidental.
