LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say two people were killed in a plane crash near the north end of Lake Mead.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Clark County firefighters and volunteer units from Overton and Moapa responded after 9 p.m. Thursday after a witness reported the two-seater plane go down near Echo Bay.

Lake Mead National Recreation Area spokeswoman Christie Vanover says the plane crashed on land hundreds of yards from an airstrip.

The plane was on fire, and the bodies were found after fire crews extinguished it. Their identities were not released.
