LAS VEGAS (AP) — The University of Nevada, Las Vegas is back to the drawing board after officials say the location where they wanted to build a new stadium is too close to the busy McCarran International Airport.

The Las Vegas Sun reports that the Federal Aviation Administration has been raising concerns about the site since it was announced in 2011. The agency says the stadium could affect planes’ departure and landing routes, block radar and interfere with radio communications.

School officials initially thought they could work around the problems by sinking the 50,000-seat stadium into the ground.

But they say now that it would cause too much of a hassle, and are considering other spots both on and off campus.

The airport is the ninth busiest in the country.
