Tally Not Yet In For All Counties

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada secretary of state’s office reports a light turnout during the two-week early voting period for Tuesday’s primary election.

In the state’s two most populous counties, nearly 7 percent of Clark County’s 775,950 registered voters cast ballots during early voting that ended Friday, while 10.5 percent of Washoe County’s 217,743 registered voters turned out.

More Republicans than Democrats voted early in both counties.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports turnout was higher outside Nevada’s two major urban areas.

Pershing County led the state at 31 percent, followed by Carson City at 20 percent and Douglas County at 16.2 percent.

The secretary of state’s office says statewide results will be released later Monday after results from Nevada’s17 counties are compiled.
