(LAS VEGAS, KXNT, Associated Press)–Two assailants shot and killed two Metro Police officers, then murdered a bystander before taking their own lives Sunday mid-day near Nellis and Stewart in Las Vegas.
The officers, identified as 42 year old Alyn Beck and 32 year old Igor Soldo, were eating lunch at a pizza parlor when a man and woman shot them at point blank range, according to Sheriff Doug Gillespie, who held a news briefing during the 4p hour Sunday. He says one of the officers returned fire.
The assauants went to a nearby Walmart store where they shot and killed an unidentified bystander in the front door of the store.
Police arrived and deployed at the front and rear of the store and exchanged gunfire with the assailants. Moments later, according to the Sheriff, police heard more gunfire. They believe the female assailant took the life of her companion, then killed herself.
Some accounts report that the two assailants said words to the effect “the revolution has begun’ when they opened fire, but the Sheriff says that account is unconfirmed.
The motive for the attack has not been determined.
