(Las Vegas, NV) — More details are emerging about Friday’s officer-involved shooting which left a man dead.
A purse-snatching Friday night at Town Square led to a high-speed chase and a shootout on Sahara Avenue, west of the Strip.
They were able to locate the suspect by tracking the victim’s cell phone.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified the suspect as 31-year-old Danny Michael Wadsworth, Jr.
Metro Police say Wadsworth was shot and killed after he fired shots at Officers Jeffrey Gentry and Bryce Martinez.
Officer Gentry, 45, has been with LVMPD since January, 1999 and Officer Martines, 27, joined LVMPD in June, 2008.
Both are assigned to the Patrol Division, South Central Area Command and have been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this event.
This is the eighth officer-involved shooting of 2014 in Metro’s jurisdiction, the fifth fatal.
