LAS VEGAS (AP) — Henderson city council members are considering whether a planned shop called The Love Store is a legitimate business or a sex shop banned under city code.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1u8Uxoz ) the chain hopes to open its third Las Vegas-area location on North Stephanie Street near Warm Springs Road. Henderson’s business licensing division denied the request, saying the shop is an adult novelty store and is not allowed at that location.

City code defines adult novelty stores as those that contain a “significant portion” of sexually oriented products.

Store attorney Clyde DeWitt says the “significant portion” language is vague, and describes The Love Store as a “romance boutique” for loving couples.

The City Council is scheduled to hear The Love Store’s appeal on Tuesday.
