LAS VEGAS (AP) — O.J. Simpson’s lawyers have a week to reformat and resubmit a Nevada Supreme Court appeal for a new trial in the 2007 armed robbery case of the imprisoned former football star.
Chief Justice Mark Gibbons issued an order Friday that amounts to an agreement to accept a supersized 20,000-word document that Simpson’s lawyers submitted before a midnight May 21 deadline.
Court spokesman Michael Sommermeyer says the justices basically want it double-spaced and resubmitted by June 6.
Simpson’s legal team is seeking the reversal of a lower court ruling.
It rejected arguments that Simpson got bad legal advice, that his lawyer had a conflict of interest, and that Simpson’s 2008 Las Vegas trial was tainted by his notoriety.
Simpson is now 66 and serving nine to 33 years in state prison.
