(Las Vegas, NV) —  A record number of people are expected to visit Las Vegas this year. The Convention and Visitors Authority expects 40-million people by year’s end.

LVCVA numbers indicate 12-percent of the visitors will be here because of conventions. A new study indicates many of them are first time visitors, and many will return with family and friends.

The average age of a visitor is now 46-years-old, down from 5o-years-old several years ago. Officials say 71-percent of the visitors are doing some gambling, down from 80-percent. But they’re spending more for food and other entertainment.
