Arrest In Palms Shooting
LAS VEGAS, KXNT, ASSOCIATED PRESS)–Metro Police have arrested a 25 year old man in the shooting that took the life of Evan Plunkett during a party at a posh Palms suite last week.
Police say 25 year old Jim Edward Johnson was at the party, which followed a rap video shoot, and was seen on surveillance video leaving via a stairwell following the shooting.
Johnson lives in an apartment on Ford Street in Las Vegas, according to the police report. An attorney contacted police and arranged for Johnson to turn himself into authorities.
As many as 50 people attended the party on the 34th floor of the Palms. The shooting followed an argument involving several people near a swimming pool. Plunkett’s brother was in attendance and says he came to his brother’s assistance after the shooting. He had been shot in the chest. The Henderson man died later at a hospital.
The police report says officers interviewed witnesses who said Johnson had been at the party for three hours. He4 was seated at a table where two handguns and a pile of marijuana was seen.
A witness said Johnson told him later that his gun discharged after it had fallen to the floor.
