Trial Begins In Dancer Slaying Case

LAS VEGAS (AP) — It has been almost 3½ years since Deborah Flores Narvaez failed to show up for her role in the “Fantasy” revue on the Las Vegas Strip.

Testimony began Thursday in the long-delayed trial of her ex-boyfriend, Jason Omar Griffith.

He faces charges that he killed Flores in December 2010, dismembered her body and tried to dispose of it in tubs of cement.

Griffith was a Cirque du Soleil performer, nicknamed “Blu.”

Jurors will be told the two had a stormy relationship and traded accusations of domestic violence, but they kept returning to each other until one was dead.

Griffith was arrested in January 2011 and pleaded not guilty. He could face life in prison.

Griffith’s lawyers say he was defending himself when Flores died.
