LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police are investigating the deaths of two inmates at two separate jails over the weekend.
Authorities say a 61-year-old male inmate at the Clark County Detention Center collapsed in his cell on Saturday. Police say rescuers responded immediately but were unable to revive him.
The man had been at the jail since April 19.
Police say the second incident happened Sunday at the North Valley Complex. Officials say a 57-year-old inmate was in an argument with other inmates and was handcuffed by corrections officers.
Authorities say that while he was being escorted out of the cell, he collapsed, and he was later pronounced dead at North Vista hospital.
The inmate had been booked into jail on March 16.
Identities of the inmates haven’t yet been released.
