(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–Congressman Steven Horsford has sent a letter to Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie urging him to do something about the militia presence near Bunkerville in the wake of the Cliven Bundy standoff.

The area is within Horsford’s district–and the Congressman tells the sheriff he is concerned about the safety and well-being of those constituents.

Horsford says the armed groups are setting up checkpoints, requiring residents to prove they live in the area before they can pass. And he says they’ve established and armed present near schools, churches and community locations. Horsford tells the sheriff the people dont feel safe and want the militias out.

BLM called off an operation to impound rancher Bundy’s trespass cattle after Bundy’s supporters gathered in the area to confront the government agents.
