PROVO, Utah (AP) — Two sets of badly decomposed human remains have been discovered in a Utah canyon.
Investigators say a hiker found the remains of a person Saturday afternoon in a remote section of Provo Canyon below Squaw Peak.
After Provo police arrived at the scene, they found the remains of a second person about 50 feet away.
Investigators called the cases unrelated. They believe the first discovery concerned a 41-year-old man reported missing in 2012 and the second discovery concerned a person reported missing in 2006.
Their names were not immediately released.
Police say it appears both people fell off a high cliff, and an investigation continues into the deaths.
The remains were recovered by a helicopter crew Sunday.
