(Las Vegas, NV) — Clark County School District Police are speaking about a fight, which sent a middle school girl to the hospital last week.

The altercation was between a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old girl at O’Callaghan Middle School on April 2.

CCSD Police Captain Ken Young says this was not a case of bullying, but describe the girls as “mutual combatants.”  The incident lasted less than one minute.

They say one of the girls suffered a “medical event” after being pushed.  It was that event, not a beating, which sent her to the hospital.

Police are not identifying the injured girl, nor will they give any specifics about her medical condition. However, they confirm she is alive and receiving medical care.

Both students have been suspended and could face further discipline or even criminal charges.
