(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–A Las Vegas jury has awarded comedian George Wallace $1.3 million dollars stemming from his on-stage injury during a private performance at the Bellagio in late 2007.

Wallace claimed the resort was negligent when his leg became entangled in stage wiring. He said he ruptured his Achilles in the accident.

He sued the Bellagio in civil court. A trial and deliberations lasted more than two weeks.

Bellagio attorney Paul Haire says Wallace had a pre-existing Achilles injury and failed to prove the hotel and its employees were responsible.

Wallace testified that he’s permanently hobbled by a sudden injury suffered when his leg became entangled in wiring onstage while entertaining an HSBC Card Services Inc. audience.
