Las Vegas, NV – 6,002 baseball fans came out to watch the 51s season opener last night at Cashman Field.

In addition to $1 beers, they were treated to a rout of the Fresno Grizzlies. Kirk Nieuwenhius had four of the 51s thirteen hits and third baseman Zach Lutz hit a grand slam to lead Las Vegas past the San Francisco Giants’ affiliate 9-2.

Noah Syndergaard, the Mets top prospect takes the mound tonight at 7:05. A fireworks show is scheduled after the game.
