(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–A garage fire in the southern Las Vegas Valley Monday morning forced a family into the morning chill. Clark County Fire officials say the fire at 8065 Orchestra Avenue near the 215 & Windmill caused $40,000 in damages.
Four engine companies and more than 30 firefighters responded to the fire at a garage that had been converted into a living area. The fire extended into an attic. Fire crews had the blaze knocked down within 15 minutes
A woman living at the home and her four daughters were safely evacuated, as was a family cat. The family was left homeless by the fire and were receiving Red Cross assistance with housing.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
