(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–A garage fire in the southern Las Vegas Valley Monday morning forced a family into the morning chill. Clark County Fire officials say the fire at 8065 Orchestra Avenue near the 215 & Windmill caused $40,000 in damages.

Four engine companies and more than 30 firefighters responded to the fire at a garage that had been converted into a living area. The fire extended into an attic.  Fire crews had the blaze knocked down within 15 minutes

A woman living at the home and her four daughters were safely evacuated, as was a family cat. The family was left homeless by the fire and were receiving Red Cross assistance with housing.
