Improper Strip Search Costs County $275k
(Las Vegas, NV) — The Las Vegas Metro Police Department Fiscal Affairs Committee has approved a settlement for a former jail inmate who was improperly strip searched.
Daniel Roadhouse will receive $275,000. He was arrested in February 2008 on a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving and taken to the Clark County Detention Center. Roadhouse’s lawsuit claimed he was strip searched in front of other inmates, and without cause.
The police department’s attorney, Thomas Dillard, told committee members the search violated department policy and was done without supervisor’s knowledge.
Dillard says no one was disciplined for the incident, but the officer involved is no longer with the department.
