(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–Edward Edgerton, 26, has been arrested on an open murder charge in the death of a woman at an apartment complex over the weekend.

Metro Police say Edgerton was present when they arrived at the apartment on South Nellis Boulevard and found an unresponsive woman. Edgerton said he was in a relationship with the woman–identified later as 24 year old Tyanna Reynolds– and that the two had had an altercation prior to the police arriving.

Reynolds was  pronounced dead later. Edgerton is facing a murder charge.

A police report says Edgerton was interviewed later by homicide detectives and revealed two encounters with Reynolds in which he had beaten her. The incidents were prompted by a phone call to Reynolds from an ex-boyfriend.

Police are asking that anyone with information about the incident contact Las Vegas Metro Police Homicide or CrimeStoppers.
