(Las Vegas, NV)- Police need the public’s help in finding 27 year old Joseph Lucero, a suspect in the city’s latest homicide.
On Thursday night, Police were initially dispatched to an apartment complex in the 7200 block of South Las Vegas Blvd after there were reports of shots fired, but responding officers could not find any victims or a crime scene. However, just a few minutes later, Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers were called to investigate a traffic accident on the eastbound 215 off-ramp to Eastern Avenue. When they arrived, they noticed the driver of a Jeep was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. That driver had hit three other vehicles. He was transported to Sunrise Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Because the accident happened just a few miles from the initial reported shooting call, Metro officers went back to the apartment complex for a second look. A possible homicide scene was found. and homice detectives were called.
During an investigation, it was learned the victim arrived at Lucero’s apartment where an argument took place. Metro believes the victim may have been shot near the residence, but managed to leave the scene in his vehicle, where he just a few minutes later, collided with other cars on the 215 off-ramp.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
If you have any knowledge about where Joseph Lucero might be, you are urged to contact Metro’s Homicide Section at 828-3521, or to remain anonymous contact Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
