LAS VEGAS, NV – The Runnin’ Rebels seem intent on putting their fans through the ringer this season.

Just when it looked like they’d put away Wyoming in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Tournament, ticketholders – perhaps by instinct – began to move toward the edge of their seats.

With 3:08 remaining, facing a 13-point deficit, the Cowboys went on a 17-5 run to close the gap to one, at 66-65, with 23.1 seconds left in the game. The Runnin’ Rebels were perfect from the line in crunch time, going five for five, to hold off Wyoming 71-67.

Bryce Dejean-Jones, who’d been suspended for the regular season finale, channeled his emotion leading UNLV scorers with 22 points. Roscoe Smith, who’d also missed the end of the season with a concussion had 18 points and 13 rebounds.

They now face top-seeded San Diego State who routed Utah State 73-39 in their quarterfinal game. Tip-off for tonight’s semi-final match is set for 6.
