LAS VEGAS (AP) — The builder of the M Resort Spa Casino near Las Vegas and chief executive of several properties in Laughlin has been named to fill an unexpired term on the Nevada state Athletic Commission.

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval named Anthony Marnell III to the five-member commission on Wednesday.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Marnell replaces T.J. Day, who died Jan. 24.

Marnell is president of the M Resort in Henderson and the owner and manager of Marnell Gaming.

The company owns the Colorado Belle and Edgewater casinos in Laughlin, and the Laughlin Event Center amphitheater.

Marnell also served on the State Board of Equalization.

His commission term runs through Oct. 31.
