(LAS VEGAS, KXNT, ASSOCIATED PRESS)–A judge has denied bail for the woman facing murder charges in the bathtub death of her son.
Christine Allen was in court Wednesday morning. She was appointed a public defender and is scheduled to return to court for a hearing on June 17.
Allen has told police she drowned the child after hearing voices to tell her to do it. She told police she was divorced, depressed and facing eviction.
The Public Defender’s office says Allen is likely to plead not guilty by reason of insanity to a murder charge.
Andrea Luem, a Clark County public defender, said Wednesday she plans to seek a psychiatric evaluation for 30-year-old Christine Tracy Allen before a June 17 preliminary hearing. Records show the Clark County’s child welfare office had been contacted twice about Noah Allen before the 3-year old’s mother drowned him in a bath tub.
The welfare office received a referral on December 9th and another one the following day. The agency said the first inquiry did not warrant further investigation. In the second, child welfare agency said an allegation of neglect was found to be unsubstantiated.
