Home Invader Was Sought In Previous Incident

(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–Sean Cordeiro, arrested in a home invasion standoff in Las Vegas Thursday is the same man who had been sought by police in a similar incident in the southeast valley February 1.  His photo was distributed  by police in numerous public appeals to locate him.

On Thursday, Cordeiro allegedly broke into the home of a local woman and was threatening to rape her when police arrived. The woman had hidden her children, ages 8, 10, and 11 in an upstairs bedroom and called 9-1-1 and her husband to alert them an armed intruder had entered the home. The children were rescued by police using ladders at the back of the house near Lake Meade Blvd. and Buffalo Drive.

A police report says Cordeiro told them just before his arrest that he was high on meth, and intended to die in the standoff. He reported that he had recently completed a 12-year prison term and was trying to get his life in order.

Earlier this week, in releasing the then-unidentified Cordeiro’s photo yet again, police also named and supplied the photo of a woman described as a person of interest.

Cordeiro is facing charges of robbery, burglary, kidnapping, home invasion, and attempted sexual assault.
