LAS VEGAS (AP) — Creators of a giant observation wheel on the Las Vegas Strip are flipping the lights on in an official sunset ceremony, although passengers still won’t be able to board the attraction.

A lighting ceremony for the Las Vegas High Roller is set for late afternoon Friday. The general manager of the $550 million LINQ development that houses the wheel will also be providing an update on the project’s progress.

The 550-foot High Roller is the world’s tallest observation wheel and features spherical glass pods that can hold up to 40 people each. The new addition to the Las Vegas skyline is expected to begin operating later this year.
