LAS VEGAS, NV – It only took about five minutes for Colorado State to all but erase a 12-point second half deficit but UNLV held on to beat the Rams and reclaim sole possession of 3rd place in the Mountain West Conference.
Leading 58-46 with twelve and a half minutes remaining, Colorado State went on a 15-4 run to close the gap. After the Rams missed a game-tying free throw, UNLV took over scoring nine unanswered points to pull away for good, eventually winning 78-70.
With the win, Dave Rice avoided his first three-game losing streak since taking over head coaching duties three years ago.
Three games remain for the Runnin’ Rebels starting Saturday at 1pm against Air Force in Colorado Springs. Their next home game is Wednesday against Mountain West Conference-leading San Diego State.
