(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–The state of Nevada is a finalist for plans by Tesla Motors to build a multi-billion dollar “gigafactory.”

Tesla is the maker of high-end electric cars. It wants to build a ten million square foot factory employing over 6,000.

The announcement comes from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, which would not comment on the talks with Tesla, describing them as confidential.

The state’s announcement touted Nevada’s skilled, diverse workforce, various training programs and a business climate “necessary for innovative business.” The company has been reportedly scouting land in three other states–Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.

Tesla has said it expects to open the facility in 2017 with full capacity by 2020 supplying batters for as many as a half million vehicles.
