( Las Vegas, NV ) – The deadly confrontation between a pedestrian and Bureau of Land Management Rangers near Red Rock Canyon was recorded on video.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper posted the video on its website, saying it was recorded by a man in a car that was stopped on State Route 159 as the confrontation unfolded. The newspaper reports the man plans on turning the video over to investigators looking into Friday’s shooting death of 20-year-old D’Andre Berghardt Jr. of Los Angeles.

Preliminary reports say Berghardt was shot and killed by BLM Rangers after he tried to grab an assault rifle from an NHP Trooper’s SUV.

The incident began when Rangers were called to the road leading to the Redrock Canyon National Conservation area after reports of a pedestrian trying to get the attention of passing bicyclists.

Metro Police are reportedly the lead agency investigating the fatal shooting, with help from the FBI and the Nevada Highway Patrol
