CCSD Could Change Child Abuse Reporting Policy
(Las Vegas, NV) — Clark County school staffers may soon have to follow new rules when reporting suspected child abuse.
The school board is scheduled to vote Thursday afternoon on new regulations.
Staff must notify the school principal and counselor if they suspect a child has been abused.
If there’s physical evidence, the student will be detained until a Child Protective Services investigator arrives.
School district officials say the policy is not a reaction to the November 2012 death of a seven-year-old student who was abused but allowed to go home.
