Inspector Pleads Guilty In Smog Test Scheme
(Las Vegas, NV) — A former emission control inspector accused of taking part in a smog check scheme has accepted a plea bargain.
Thirty-two year-old Luis Batista pleaded guilty to a federal count of making a false statement to a government agency.
According to the plea deal, Batista submitted 150 false emission reports to the DMV between 2008 and 2010 at two locations in the northeast valley.
Prosecutors allege Batista and his two brothers performed over 1500 illegal smog checks.
