UNLV Lands 16 Recruits
LAS VEGAS (AP) — UNLV announced 16 football recruits have committed to the Rebels, including a highly touted junior college transfer quarterback.
Head coach Bobby Hauck said Wednesday his 2014 recruits come from five states and American Samoa.
They include 10 defensive and five offensive players, and a placekicker from nearby Henderson.
Blake Decker is expected to compete for the starting quarterback job. He’s a transfer from Scottsdale Community College in Arizona, where he threw for 47 touchdowns and was a second-team national junior college All-American.
Hauck recently received a raise and a three-year contract extension after the Rebels posted a 7-6 record, including a loss to North Texas in the Heart of Dallas Bowl.
It was UNLV’s first bowl appearance in 13 years.
