MILAN, N.M. (AP) — A woman who escaped from custody in a stolen police car in a northwestern New Mexico town has been apprehended.
New Mexico State Police took 27-year-old Bridget Romero in custody at a residence in Milan on Tuesday, two days after her escape.
Authorities said Romero had been arrested in a stolen vehicle case and was being taken to the Milan police station when she slipped off handcuffs, overpowered an officer and drove off in an unmarked police car.
The police car was found later Monday.
A shotgun that was in the police car has not been found.
