Police say they responded to the business after receiving a call that a gunman entered it and robbed the employee late Friday night.

According to investigators, officers contacted a man who fit the description of the suspect outside the business and the man drew a handgun after they issued commands to him.

The man fell to the ground after he was struck by gunfire from the officers. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Metro Police said Monday the officer involved in the shooting is Officer Samuel Solorio.

Solorio is 37,  and has been employed with the LVMPD since July of 1998. He is assigned assigned to the LVMPD Resident Section in Laughlin, Nevada.

Solorio has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this event.
