(Las Vegas, NV) — About 70,000 rugby fans are in Las Vegas this week for The USA Sevens International Rugby Tournament. The tournament begins on Friday at Sam Boyd Stadium, but many fan events kick off earlier in the week. It’s the tournament’s 5th year in Las Vegas. It moved from San Diego.
Rob Cornelius, the United World Sports Vice President of Business Development, says it’s a chance to showcase our Las Vegas to people from 16 different countries. He’s thrilled with how much the tournament has grown. Five years ago, attendance was at 24,000.
There are 45 matches 3 days, it’s all to gain points in the Sevens World Series standings.
