LAS VEGAS (AP) — A report shows new home sales in southern Nevada last year were much more robust than they were in 2012.
Las Vegas-based Home Builders Research counted more than 7,300 new homes sold in 2013, up 32 percent from the year earlier.
The statistics, cited by the Las Vegas Sun, found the median price of a new home reached nearly $299,000 in December, up 37 percent from a year ago.
Builders pulled almost 7,000 new home permits last year, which is up 18 percent from 2012.
Home Builders Research President Dennis Smith says 2013 will go down as an exceptional year for new home sales.
He predicts sales and permit activity in the first half of 2014 will be similar to what it was during the last half of 2013.
