Family, Friends Stunned By Utah Murder-Suicide
SPANISH FORK, Utah (AP) — Family and friends say they were stunned a Utah police officer shot and killed his wife, mother-in-law and two young children before turning the gun on himself.
At a vigil Saturday night in Spanish Fork, they said they were aware Joshua and Kelly Boren had been having marital problems but never thought he was capable of such a violent act.
Spanish Fork police say 34-year-old Lindon Officer Joshua Boren shot his 32-year-old wife, his 55-year-old mother-in-law, Marie King, and his two children, 7-year-old Joshua “Jaden” Boren and 5-year-old Haley Boren, before killing himself.
They were found dead in their home late Thursday night.
More than 100 people packed Gold’s Gym to remember and share stories of the family. Kelly Boren worked out there.
Friend RiRi Whiting says she never saw a temper in Joshua Boren and she thought he was a good father.
